The Western and Southern Cape face a growing pine shortage. This is thanks to wild and man-made fires and limited reforestation practices within the coastal Forestry sector.
The current annual demand for timber is estimated at 800 000 m3, while the available supply is 350 000 m3 – a supply shortage of more than 50%! This poses significant challenges for local suppliers as they try to keep up with the rising demand.
This is one of the reasons we strive to ensure we source our timber from sustainable and reputable milling operations. Not only does this support reforestation efforts but it gives our customers peace of mind knowing that while we prepare their orders, the next generation of timber is growing.
Do your bit and make sure you know the source of your timber supply.
