Christmas Trees Top The Harvest

Did You Know that Christmas Trees Top The Harvest? In fact, there are more trees harvested across the globe to be used as decorative features during the Christmas festive season, than what is harvested in South Africa annually.

In the United States alone, between 18 and 20 million trees are harvested for the Christmas season with the most popular species being Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, and Noble Fir. While South Africa does not come close to Europe and the USA in terms of Christmas tree harvesting and general festive season decorating, our multicultural nation certainly enjoys this special time of the year.

For the Somerset Timbers family, the festive season is about taking time to pause, share love and kindness with family and friends and rejoice in the support we have shared throughout 2022. In the words of Ian Burger…

We would like to take the opportunity to thank our family members and supporting structures, who make coming to work every day a possibility. We would like to thank our customers and suppliers, who helped built Somerset Timbers over the years, who shaped the wood landscape with us, who supported us and who makes opening the doors in the morning, not only possible but something we look forward to. While taking some time off we will ensure that we rejuvenate our spirits, and energise our bodies so that we come back in 2023 to do what we do best – share our Knowledge and love of Wood with you.

As we now know, Christmas trees top the harvest, so erect your tree, light it up and decorate, but never forget the reason why we are doing it. Let us be thankful, let us stay humble and let us share and spread the love during this season.
