The dam is home to a variety of water and reed dwelling birds such as:

There are also a number of birds inhabiting the fringes of the dam and surrounding bush:
Southern Masked Weaver, Karoo Prinia, Levaillant’s Cisticola, Blacksmith Plover, Little Egret, Speckled Pigeon, Laughing Dove, Cape Turtle Dove, Red-eyed Dove.
Spotted Eagle-Owl have raised many generations on the property. We are now very lucky to have a rare resident – the charismatic Hamerkop.
We are committed to preserving this sanctuary and continue to do improvements as well as regular water tests.
